1) Think about this- that white car was a Dart. roughly in the compact class. It rear-ended a car that hard where there were briefly flames. And everyone opened the doors and got out. Had we been watching something like this circa 1975, there would be a lot of dead people in that scene.

2) yet another reason self-driving cars are coming whether we like it or not.

3) and of course there had to be at least one Mustang in the mix.

Was there an ice storm in Los Angeles? Please tell me there was an ice storm in Los Angeles. I don’t know how to make sense of this. The guy claimed that the streets were “slippery”, but how slippery could they be?

What the hell.

Do they hand out driving licences with selected boxes of Kelloggs or something.

Complete lack of attention from all road users that there was an accident in the road.

That, and the right lane is conspicuously empty.

As usual.

You don’t get squealing tires when the streets are slippery...

Now I feel that might slight fear of driving on the interstate is justified. That was some final destination shit, just with no fatalities.

A perfect storm of gormless “drivers”, and toothless/unenforced/unenforceable distracted driving and lane discpline laws. And a Mustang to boot.

Yeah, not a single car in the right lane, not one. And then whoever was filming looked like they had a car with strobes on it, so maybe next time move that puppy out there behind the last car in the wreck that’s missing a taillight. Or, you know, just sit there and keep filming, whatever. Not blaming them per say, but could’ve maybe helped the situation a bit instead of possibly making people think to avoid you on the opposite side of the road. Just a thought, but I wasn’t there, so who knows all the details?

I am simply baffled as to the fact that people just kept flying up to the wreck at full speed, because it means a) nobody was paying nearly enough attention to the road ahead of them, and b) nobody out of the myriad of people who might’ve tried something was doing much in the way of warning anyone.

The California DMV tests for minimal driving skills, then hands over your license. This is the result......

I think the guy filming is on the opposite side of a guardrail, like on an adjacent divided access road, so he couldn’t pull behind the accident and warn oncoming traffic.
